“Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” (John 8:34-36 NLT)
This was something that hit home for me that day we read this passage! I never "noticed" this verse till that day we read this!
We are not like held in sin, we are only slaves, and slaves can be set free from their "masters" one day. Can you see what Jesus was saying? We may be slaves of sin, but we don't belong to it! We are not born into sin's family! We are born into God's family! We can be assured that we are members of God's family! Because he has given us an inheritance like Joel shared yesterday! I'm so thankful for that!
Encourage you that Jesus is the Son of God and a SON is a family member of God so, if he has set you free from the "master of sin" then you are really free to be in His holy family! Take heart and don't let the evil one trap you into thinking you aren't free from his grasp!
